Video Compress Pro - Compressor Smaller Movie App Reviews
This is exactly what I hoped it would be when I purchased it. It’s just technical enough to meet highly specified bitrate, framerate, resolution, and format requirements for users like me, but not overly time consuming and the interface is simple - simple enough for it to be of use to less technical users who simply want to save some space or upload/send a video within a certain space requirement. Just as advanced as you want it to be, and no more - but not dumbed down or lacking features. A+ All around, I highly reccomend this app to anybody looking to compress big raw video files. It’s my favorite application of it’s kind, and definitely worth the four bucks it cost me.

Works as intended
I like that I can select the file size and have it deliver that size. I'm not doing large videos, simply 2-4 min shorts that are going onto a website that has a 10mb upload limit. I bought this after trying the lite version and it works the same without the rediculous watermark that the lite version makes. Worth my $4.
video and audio sync
I tried to compress a 220MB MP4 to something below 100MB. The video quality is fine and it was simple to do however the audio now is not sync'd to the vdeo making it worthless. I can't seem to figure out how to compress and keep audio sync'd up.

Very Effective for Shrinking FIle Size
I can compress a 9GB quicktime video into a 200MB video and still be able to read the text on the screen!
Does the job, but crashes every time
It does the job, but the size it says it has compressed the video too is rather inaccurate and it crashes after every export.
Use to compress meeting recordings
Recordings from web-based conference calls can become very large (often 1-3 GB). I am able to compress these down to 50-100MB with this tool. It's straight-forward once you learn it, and only takes a few minutes to compress a large video. Results have been excellent for this purpose. Well worth the money.
sometimes it works…only good for occasional single file
It is really only good for occasionally converting a single file. There is no way to set standard default settings, such that every single time I convert a file, I have to set everything again, and there is no ability to set a cue of multiple files to convert, so I have to go through it all again and again, for every single file I want to pass through it. it is absolutely maddening that these simple features are not part of this! Otherwise, I would have given it four or evern five stars. Clearly they are looking to make as little effort as possible. :(

This program works great. Simple to use, effecient and has never let me down over the last 6 months.
Does what I need.
Works very well. Set the size and output format and go. I used to go through a few steps to get this type of video compression done. This program does it directly. One recommendation is that the developer add the ability to drag a file onto the icon to launch the program and load the the video into the application for processing (similar to Fileloupe).

Took a chance & Really happy with the results!
I wanted to get videos up on instagram and also send videos i created onto my phone, but the sizes were too large. I took a chance with this app and I am now able to post on instagram easily and I can now send videos that were too large stright to my phone! I am very pleased with this app! Glad I took the chance!

Fantastic program
Sadly Apple failed me when I needed a compression tool, thankfully Video Compressor was available and did the job for a wedding easily. Easy to use, works great in a Mac. So what are you waiting for people, buy it already!
I love it
I’ve only been using it for a few minutes, but it has exceeded my expectations. At first I thought that I needed instructions, but that was a silly idea. I’m doing very well without them. I might have more to say later, but I couldn’t ask for more.
Didnt Work!
I just bought this and it didnt work… Tried to compress a file from 112MB to 20MB and it got it to 105MB!!!
Great app. Works fast.
I used to use Hand Brake on my PC. Would not work on my new Mac book. Found this app. Works great to shrink my MP3 and MP4 files for my podcast.
It literally did nothing
So easy interface. Drop set what you want it to. I had a 800 MB file wanted it to go down to 300 MB. Press and play. See the percentage bar got all excited. Played the quality of the video liekd it. Of course I did. I went through all that just to copy the file. It litteraly just copied it. I didnt pay 3.99 to copy a file. Disapointing.

Does not work.
I tried to compress mpeg file from 5.5gb to 4.5gb. For 24hr app could do only 11 % of the file.
Easy & WORKS
Needed a ‘way’ to reduce video to send smaller files. Was surprised how easy the app is to use and it WORKS. Excellent

Program works well. I compress videos made in Final Cut Pro for Amazon and Youtube reviews. Amazon only allows a maximum of 100 MB videos. This easily takes a couple gigabytes down to under 100 megabytes without degrading the video quality. If you choose “Compress Video To”, it sometimes does not compress the video to the desired size. Choose “Compress Videos bit rate” until “Compress Video To” shows your desired size. The program is user friendly. It works fast. I like it! For being so low priced, it looks great! Buy it!

I had gone through some trials & errors w/ other apps. My board instructions had the wrong settings to plug in, & I was clueless on what #s to plug in for codec, frame rate, bit rate, etc. Of course, the compressed videos were indeed difficult to see & some had delayed speech. This app, all I had to do was put in how many mb (thankfully the boards had the correct range), & voila, it plugged in the rest of the settings. Yay! $3.99 worth spent, instead of having a professional service do it, which can be costly. I’m satisfied!
Fantastic App
I was looking for an application that could shrink my videos down to where they could be moved easily. This program does this amazyingly. Great price and does what it says and what others have commented on in the reviews.

I routinely give feedback to others through screenrecordings, and then have a 200MB file I need to shrink down to fit in an email attachment. This app allows me to do thrink big video files down perfectly, easily, quickly. Essential part of my workflow.

I like to use this app to compress and trim video before I upload to youtube. It is handy.
It changes framerate even though I say don’t!
It reduces the file size nicely, but I think it cheats... I set framerate to 30 in the settings but the export video is not at 30fps even though it says in its media info.

Very nice and easy to use app. I have used it several times already without any crashes or difficulties. Straightforward interface. Recommended.
Easy to use
I’m compressing and making m4v files with my 3-7 minute videos and it usually takes about 20 minutes or so to finish. Offers you several file modes. I have not used its editor. It’s an easy app to use and inexpensive if you’re in a hurry. The only critique is if only it would let you compress several files at a time, rather, add files to a queue.
HIGHEST IS 30FPS!!! WORST BUY EVER
I was hoping this app would allow me to keep my 60fps clips, but instead it forced a 30fps. the max is 30fps i wish it would of said that in the description!!! Worst buy ever, i wish i could get my money back. DO NOT BUY UNLESS YOU WANT CRAPPY QUALITY
It Works
Wanted to shrink a video so I could get it on Facebook. It worked.
Easy to use, no problems
Drag my video into the app, select the size of my video (and/or audio) with a slider or input, select a format, submit save and the app resizes my video. I’ve also notice that during the encoding process all of my CPU cores are being used by the app and goes very quickly. One feature that would be a nice addition would be to queue multiple videos.
Does exactly what you’d expect
Almost could not be simpler. you drag the slider for how much compression you want to use and hit the go button bottom right; you can even write over the existing file in-place. Sadly i don’t think you can batch videos, i want to re-compress hundreds of videos taken with my iphone that are way too high of quality. You can either drag the slider or type in a size you wish the movie to end up. Example; i had a 19mb video i put in 9mb, it moved the slider for me, The program uses all 8 cores and is smoking fast doing the coversion. It’s incredibly simple to use. It has a few flaws that should knock of some stars but i tried to balance the ‘operator error’ review from earlier where the user didn’t understand you have to slide the compression slider to make the video smaller. 1) should have a batch mode 2) should show the name of the video being edited 3) should have an option to replace original 4) some basic bad user interface errors like the application name that is a paragraph; ‘Video Comprss Pro - Compressor Smaller Movie.app’ that’s very bad user interface. App name is not supposed to be advertisement With it’s flaws well worth the $4 it will get my 80GB photos library down to 60 I’m betting while in the meantime gettting me to prune many videos i don’t need and trim the ones i want to keep. Search in the finder in your photos library for ‘quicktime movie’ type; sort by size and reduce your libary by hundreds of mb with little effort. many GB with some effort; have to do one video at a time.
